This study explores the time to subjective improvement in hair growth with topical finasteride treatment in men with mild androgenic alopecia. Understanding the timing of noticeable improvement is crucial for counseling patients and managing expectations, which may ultimately improve treatment compliance. Eighteen men with Norwood Type 1-3 pattern hair loss were enrolled, and monthly surveys were administered to assess subjective improvement. The results indicate that most participants experienced subjective improvement within the first 9 months of treatment. Notably, 11 out of 13 participants who completed the study and maintained treatment reported subjective improvement, with the majority noticing improvement between the 2-6 month interval. These findings provide valuable insights into the efficacy and timeline of topical finasteride treatment for mild androgenic alopecia.
